Day of Sunshine and Relief: January 8th

Terry and Kaye came over to our apartments at 10:45 this morning. We had a little meeting then they took us to the PX and Commissary. Emma, Jenna, and I rode with Terry in her rented Mercedes. She met Jenna's supervising teacher who has tattoos on her arms and has decided she'd like to get a tattoo on her wrist similar to the one this teacher has. Terry is so funny!

Anyhow, we got all the things we needed today at the PX and Commissary. Jenna and I stocked up on so much food, we'll be good for a long time. I feel so relieved to have full cabinets, fridge/freezer! Basically we'll just have to buy things that go bad or used up quickly, like bread, milks, eggs, lunch meat, cheese, etc.

Walked around our area of base with Emma and Quintin to take some pictures. From certain areas we can see the town of Baumholder below us. It's a really pretty view.

We've hung around here all evening. Al came and chatted with us for a few. The internet modem and phone are located in our apartment and he originally came down to use the phone. Had an issue with his debit card today.

Our neighbor across the hall, Liz, just walked in a gave us a few pots and pans that had been donated. They have a few, we have a few, we can share if need be. It's a great situation.

The only thing left really is to get our American outlets in our apartment working. We have both European and American outlets. Everyone else's American outlets work. So we charge our computers in Liz and Sallie's apartment. I have an adapter, but not a converter. I'm too afraid to charge my computer with it. I don't want anything bad to happen. So if we can get our American outlets working, we'll be in business!! Hope we can get that done Monday or Tuesday! Tonight, Jenna, Al, and I are going ghost hunting in our really creepy basement of this building. Basically, we'll just be taking pictures. haha! Should be fun.
